I find it interesting that this story and this story broke in the same week.
I wonder what impact the former is going to have on resolving the latter, or, more fundamentally, if there's even a grocery store out there willing to go into the Hill District and also willing to pay prevailing wages.
Looks like this could be a case of unintended consequences, n'at.

Stupid brown people thinking they need to eat.
I would think if it were going to be profitable, someone would put a store there.
Greg - I just wish someone would make that argument in regards to a stadium or a hotel or an amphitheater or some condos or anything anything anything else that a simple little place to buy some food and make a residential neighborhood more livable.
My understanding is that the tax payers and the arena were footing 85% of the construction costs... and they still backed out.
Must be a reason.
