At the end of the day, "Obama's Waterloo" was less like the Napoleonic defeat in 1815 and more like the ABBA song: not the best in the world, but with a beat and you can dance to it.

I was thinking that this whole thing could turn out very badly for Republicans (and Altmire). They can now be painted as obstructionists to any health care reform. Worst of all they did their worst and still lost.
Perhaps the cry after the election will be "Oh, if we had just offered one amendment..."
